Psychology Counselling is a generalist speciality in professional psychology that uses a wide spectrum of culturally-informed and culturally sensitive practices to foster well-being, prevent and lessen distress and adjustment problems, resolve crises, and boost the capacity to perform better in their lives. It addresses people as well as the systems or situations in which they function, with a specific but not exclusive focus on normative life-span development and a strong emphasis on prevention, education, and rehabilitation. It specialises in matters related to employment and careers.

Psychologists who specialise in counselling focus on the typical developmental and mental health problems that people encounter throughout their lives as well as systemic problems (like prejudice and discrimination) that affect groups, workplaces, organisations, and societies. To mitigate and address emotional, social, physical/health-related, communal,

cultural, occupational, educational, and identity-related issues, physiology counsellors employ strengths-based strategies and behaviours.
